MALACAñANG HERITAGE TOURS GET DOT SUPPORT

THE Department of Tourism (DoT) expressed its support for the public opening of three mansions within the Malacañang complex.

"The Department of Tourism welcomes and extends its full support for the Malacañang Heritage Tours, initiated by our First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. We thank our First Lady for this remarkable initiative, which provides local and foreign tourists a glimpse into our history, culture, heritage and tradition," Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said.

"It highlights the Marcos administration's recognition of Philippine heritage, tradition and culture as invaluable components of the successful transformation of the tourism industry," she added.

The Malacañang Heritage Tours feature three historical buildings inside the Malacañang compound: Bahay Ugnayan, Teus Mansion and Goldenberg Mansion.

Bahay Ugnayan covers President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s "Road to Malacañang," which focuses on his life from childhood to the presidency. It also recalls Marcos' early years, when Malacañang Palace became his home under his late father and namesake, Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.

Bahay Ugnayan also highlights Marcos' presidential victory on May 9, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Teus Mansion exhibits the vivid and diverse history of Philippine presidents with a vast collection of rare mementos.

It also has a section dedicated to portraits of the first ladies, who played important roles in defining both the president and the country as a whole.

Valentin Teus built the Teus Mansion for his family in the last quarter of the nineteenth century, and it was rebuilt in 1975 by British designer Ronnie Laing. During Marcos Sr.'s presidency, it operated as a guest house after being renovated.

The century-old Goldenberg Mansion is being booked for events on a commercial basis.

The Malacañang Heritage Tours was made available to the public for free starting on June 1, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations should be emailed to sosec@malacañang.gov.ph.
